For Stephan Trunk

This mural is a memorial to Stephan Trunk — a good friend and brilliant artist.

Stephan was a wild free spirit who had a big influence on Cologne in the 80s.

“Brilliant but unconscious,” his professor told him. Or they called him The Divine.

Rightly so.

It's not just painting that comes easily to him.

He played the most complicated works with his violin straight away, such as 24 Caprices by Paganini, without ever having learned it, spoke 9 languages which he taught himself, boxed, wrote and you could often hear opera arias coming from his small apartment (which is a work of art in itself was).

In the 90s, Stephan discovered India. He settled there for 10 years, painted, played music, and treated people who came to him in droves. There are endless videos that he recorded himself. He was a vlogger before that term existed.

His earthly adventures ended in 2022.

He left behind thousands of pictures, videos and texts and many good memories.

This mural is a detail of his 1990 painting, (the fifth image).

He lives on in a frenzy of color.
