Street Art Cities started in 2016 as a small attempt to create an online map to help out two street art hunters in hunt more effectively in their cities. A year after launching a simple version of the website, we decided to open up the platform for any other hunters that possibly might be interested. Anyone could fill in a form and get their own city.streetartcities.com website.
We didn't expect that it would get this big. Within a few months, we had dozens of cities on our platform. That was the moment we realised we should start taking this seriously. A few months later we launched the first version of our app, and since then we've seen explosive growth in the number of hunters, artists, cities, app users and partners that have joined the platform.
How our community works
Hunters are at the core of our community. That's what we call the community members that sign up to put their city's artworks on the map.
But that's not where it stops. We also provide dedicated street art tools to artists to help them promote their work and connect with their fans.
For municipalities, we help them to put their city on the map and promote their street art scene. Together, these groups all contribute to the global street art community that we're building.

How it's governed
Our community is what makes Street Art Cities, but we also need to make sure we earn money to keep the platform running, and to keep our team happy and healthy. That's why we have a few rules in place to make sure everyone is on the same page, as well as a system of roles in our community to make sure that everyone has a say in how the platform is run.
