El corral de Angelines

“El corral de Angelines” is a work that transports us to the near past, inviting us to recall the intimacy of a very special place. The mural shows the corral that existed in front of this building a few decades ago.

The scene portrayed presents us with two children: Raquel, who, as an adult, still resides in the family home that houses the work, and her older brother, Luis Antonio. The pictorial composition is based on various family photographs provided to the artist by the family itself. In them, we see the children feeding the chickens that were lovingly cared for by their grandmother Angelines.

The place was a meeting point for all the grandchildren and a space where the family united around daily activities. It was a place full of meaning, where laughter and affection flowed freely, creating indelible family bonds. This work seeks to capture the essence of those shared moments, evoking a subtle nostalgia and allowing the viewer to enter into the intimacy of that lively corner.

These family ties seem to have left an imprint between the blocks in the work, as there is a genuine communion and harmony between the neighbors of the nearby buildings. In fact, these ties have grown even stronger during the COVID confinement, as if adversity has forged an even stronger union. This stretch of Soledad Street has become a real oasis of coexistence and a true example of warm neighborly relations.
