Do Matadouro ao Criadouro

This mural beautifies and gives new life to the walls of the future Viana STArts, in Viana do Castelo, is ready. “Do Matadouro ao Criadouro" (From Slaughterhouse to Creator) is the mural that marks the transition from a place with negative connotations (the former slaughterhouse) to a new space that will unite Science, Technology with the Arts. The building's exterior wall was transformed through the artistic intervention of Helena Soares and Luísa Coelho.

The artistic proposal uses a chromatic palette composed of cheerful and bright tones, with the aim of creating an aesthetically vibrant and appealing environment. Thus, the creature with many arms and legs fills the mural as if it were walking towards something new. Its lamp-shaped head embodies the rebirth of ideas and the creative potential that the new space promises to offer the community. The “Do Matadouro ao Criadouro” project not only tries to beautify the urban environment, but also inspire the people of Viana do Castelo to actively participate in this new chapter of the place.
