During the days in Armento I have come to know very welcoming people. When I sent a picture of the unfinished work to a close friend, he wrote to me that horses made him think about friendship. So the more I painted, the more I realised this was the subject of the painting. I had in mind the bonds uniting a community and this is the idea connecting the two Saints and the two horses exchanging friendly looks: the peacefulness of these places, their atmosphere exuding warmth and affection. Saint Vitale and Saint Luke are two wandering monks and Sicilian saints, one from Castronovo, Armento’s twin city, and one from Enna. As a Sicilian, I enjoyed having the opportunity to narrate these two lives in Basilicata, within a community that probably witnessed such an intervention for the first time. I am grateful mural art allowed me to share a different interpretation, combining traditional iconography with a contemporary look. LINK
