Mascagni Pop

a mural inspired by the great composer from Livorno by Uovo alla pop

Pietro Mascagni, born in Livorno, lived between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, occupied a prominent place in the musical panorama of the time, thanks to the immediate and popular success obtained with his first opera, Cavalleria Rusticana, an adaptation of homonymous short story by Giovanni Verga.

The mural creation was entrusted to a famous Spanish street artist, El Rey de la Ruina. The portrait originates from the tradition of portraiture that followed the composer's fame both in his living time and after his death.

A large Mascagni with a hyper-contemporary cut with a bright color palette and a visionary composition made of distorted geometric figures that recall the Mascagni Terrace (a place dedicated to the composer) and the harp in the intermezzo of the Cavalleria Rusticana.

The andanti fluctuating curves of the large portrait become notes to listen to, looking at, expressing music, movement, personality, the essence of Pietro Mascagni, a star of the time, the man of the day, an timeless influencer.
