Farid used a lot of symbolism in this lateral totem mural. He explained that the Jaguar symbolizes the sun in many indigenous cultures. In this instance, the Jaguar represents the sun, surrounded by the moon which is represented as two halves of an owl’s face in order to depict the phases of the moon. The Earth is represented by the red and green macaws, which are animals that have been rescued and preserved in the Jaco area and have become a part of our beach town’s identity. The mural can be seen entering the Mas X Menos parking lot in central Jaco.
