Between tradition and modernity part 2

The two sections that border the schoolyard are nine and ten meters long respectively. Previously, illegal graffiti decorated the wall.

"Between tradition and modernity" was the artist's basic idea - in relation to both the cityscape and the institution of school. The image motif is intended to visually contrast both spectrums and connect them with each other using lines. They function as a kind of timeline between the two representations. In order to take up the architectural features of the wall, its relief was supplemented with painting in a realistic style.

Graffiti protection was applied to protect the artwork during the upcoming construction phase. The "code of honor" among sprayers is also intended to prevent graffiti artists from immortalizing themselves on the wall. The fact that this largely works is evident, for example, in the underpasses in Löberstrasse and Puschkinstrasse, which have already been artistically enhanced.

Expose by the artist Michael Ritzmann – Between tradition and modernity

It is not only Erfurt’s cityscape that is characterized by tradition and modernity.

The institution of school is also, especially in today's times, in a state of flux between these two extremes.

This is an aspect that cannot be ignored, especially in the case of the Andreas Gordon School, whose teaching content also predominantly focuses on technical content.

Are traditional teaching and learning methods still relevant?

Does new learning necessarily mean digitalization?

The image motif is intended to visually contrast these two spectrums and connect them with each other using the technical stylistic device of a "circuit board-like graphic". This functions as a kind of timeline between the two main motifs.

In the background, the architectural peculiarity of the wall will be discussed. To this end, the cast concrete parts of the relief-like part of the wall will be complemented by painting in a realistic style.

Overall, the wall between the motifs should have a uniform beige color, which merges into the motif in the manner just described.
