Studio Giftig1. Studio GiftigStudio Giftig consisting of the Netherlands-based artist duo Niels van Swaemen (1981, Eindhoven) and Kaspar van Leek (1983, Philipsburg St. Maarten). They come into contact with each other in 2007, at which time both individuals have been active in street art for some time. The duo developed a common painting style, with which they became known through their highly detailed (sur)realistic murals and paintings. Recognizable by the process in which they work is the way in which they translate their own personal concepts by photographing the objects and models themselves. Seth Globepainter3. Seth GlobepainterBorn in Paris, Seth began to express himself on the walls of his city in the mid-90s. His preferred terrain, however, was in the 20th district where he became known in the graffiti scene for his specialization of painting characters. Graduate of the Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratifs, he published alongside Gautier Bischoff in 2000 the book Kapital, which to this day remains one the best-selling books about French graffiti. Together, they founded Wasted Talent in 2004, a publishing house that specializes in monographs of urban artists. Before becoming a full-tine artist, Seth worked in the creative industries: advertising, cartoons, comics. He painted in the street for his own pleasure. Starting from 2003, he went on a trip around the world to exchange with artists from different cultures, and to open up to new ways of living and painting in urban areas. This experience culminated in the book Globe Painter published in 2007 following with the documentary series Les Nouveaux Explorateurs produced and broadcast by Canal+ where Seth proposed to discover a country through the prism of its urban arts. For 5 years, he took a part in travelling to 15 destinations full of meaning. During the course of his artistic explorations, Seth developed his distinct painting style, working often with the theme of childhood. Using the wall as a blank page, Seth relies on one hand the individual or collective imagination – local gods, myths, or tales. The child becomes a spokesperson, a messenger of his investigations. He puts into play his image of innocence, and places his character in difficult social, political and geographical contexts. An approach that often has a dual meaning yet is never cynical; an urban painting that is engaged in alerting on the state of the world as a means to advance it.

I paint under the pseudonym Cristóbal Persona (as a reference to the Portuguese writer Fernando Pessoa). I started painting on the street in 2018 as a volunteer for a social work foundation in vulnerable neighborhoods in Santiago. In recent years I have participated in different projects and festivals, mainly in Latin America and recently in Europe. I paint realism and the main theme of my work is Latin American literature; poetry and tales of popular wisdom. When I travel to other places I research myths, legends and stories rooted in communities to produce murals that people can identify with and recognize.

He is co-founder and member of @malpais.malpais, a polyhedral OFF SPACE focused on artistic production with a great exhibition space and annual programming in Barcelona. His work and his pictorial research represent the constant search for a personal and representative view of the social aspects that he considers significant around him, through a figurative, realistic pictorial language and neo-impressionist character. Igor Scalisi Palminteri9. Igor Scalisi PalminteriIgor Scalisi Palminteri was born in Palermo in 1973. Aged 20, he joined the Capuchin order, where he spent the following 7 years. A Master of Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo, he has exhibited his works in several solo and collective exhibitions, in Italy and abroad. After his first shows he took his mother’s surname, as she passed away some years before. Sacredness and saints are a constant theme in his prodcution. A revised, distorted and sometimes ambiguous sense of sacrality is ubiquitous in his poetic. While depicting saints as simple human beings, he simultaneously rediscovers their icons, reprocessing them without undermining their sanctity and using them as a starting point for an investigation on human nature and its identity. He aninated several visual arts workshops for children and teenagers at risk of social exclusion, in cooperation with schools and social services (USSM). Since 2018 he almost exclusively dedicated himself to interventions in the streets, working in close dialogue with residents with the goal of disseminating a sense of community and care through art. His works’ worth goes well beyond aesthetics, as they become a heritage of the neighbourhoods where they are carried out. During this year, he created some of his most famous murals like THE HOLY DEATH, SAINT BENEDICT THE MOOR, HAIL SAINTE ROSALIA. In 2018 he also curated POSTCARDS FROM BALLARO’, a project entailing the creation of 5 walls painted by himself, co-curator Andrea Buglisi, Alessandro Bazan, Fulvio Di Piazza and Crazyone. The project had a strong resonance and a deep impact on the urban landscape. The documentary Perspective Ballarò, directed by Cuccia and Bellia, narrating the 5 artistic interventions in the neighbourhood revolving around the historical market, has been distributed by Netflix in 30 countries since 2022. In 2019 he created SANGU E LATTI on a wall in the Sperone neighbourhood in Palermo, thus starting a journey with the local stakeholders. In 2021 he was one of the co-creators of SPERONE167, with artist CHEKOS and Danilo Alongi from Afea Art & Rooms: the encounter between local residents, associations, schools and many professionals gave birth to a lasting creative alliance propelled by urban art. In 2022 the documentary The most useless seagull in the world by director Giuseppe Lanno is realeased. The film narrates his story, his interventions in areas at high risk of social exclusion, the places in his daily life, his studio. Since 2018 he has been cooperating with the architectural firm AM3 to design a new church in the diocese of Agrigento. The Immaculate Heart of Mary Church was consecrated in November 2022. Igor designed and created all sacred furnishings, liturgical ornaments and artwork.
